ASOPRS Foundation Activities

1. Foundation Lecture, given to honor a worthy ASOPRS member each year at the Fall Symposium. Those honored to date include Dr. Orkan Stasior in 2000, Dr. Art Schaefer in 2001, Dr. Charles Beyer-Machule in 2002 and Dr. Crowell Beard in 2003.
   
   
2. South Africa Orbital and Oculofacial Program at the University of Witwatersrand Department of Ophthalmology in Johannesburg. The project consists of a 2 week visit by an ASOPRS crew (in the previous 5 years, Dr. Nunery, his fellow, and staff) for purposes of lectures, teaching, and performing surgery in this educational hub of a continent with 40 million people and no trained orbital surgeons. Other ASOPRS members and fellows in training are also eligible to participate and are invited to apply.

3. Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Bibliography developed by Dr. Richard Dortzbach will be sent as a gift from the Foundation to each new ASOPRS Fellow in training beginning July 2002.
