Dear Colleagues,

Please mark your calendars for a CME course at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center entitled: "Multidisciplinary Approach to Orbital and Adnexal Oncology/Oculoplastic Surgery" that will be held on March 6-7, 2009.

We are very excited about this course which will bring oculofacial and orbital surgeons together with experts from multiple oncologic disciplines to highlight the latest management options for tumors of the orbit, eyelid, and adnexal structures and orbitofacial reconstructive surgery in cancer patients.  The course faculty members have been carefully selected among experts from multiple disciplines at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and throughout the country and include radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, plastic surgeons, Mohs surgeons, head and neck surgeons, pediatric oncologists, dermatologists, neuroradiologists, sociologists, anaplastologists, oculoplastic surgeons, and ocular oncologists.

Course Highlights:

  • Multi-disciplinary management of orbital tumors
  • Pearls and pitfalls of surgical treatment of eyelid cancers
  • Reconstructive options for complex orbital and adnexal defects
  • Indications for adjuvant radiation therapy or chemotherapy for tumors of orbit and adnexal structures
  • Special Case Presentation Sessions ("Tumor Board") for course participants/residents/fellows with input from course faculty and panel members

Houston is a large "small town" with a modern and convenient international airport.  Houstonians are known for their hospitality and warmth.  M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is located at the heart of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical conglomerate in the United States.  We are planning fun social events for the weekend to make this educational activity also a good place to visit and catch up with old friends and make new ones.  Hotel accommodations will be available on-site at M.D. Anderson and in the Texas Medical Center.

Please visit the conference website listed on www.mdanderson.org/conferences.
