What is the ASOPRS Foundation?

The Foundation was formed in 1999 as ASOPRS' philanthropic arm, and its actions will be subject to review and approval by the ASOPRS Executive Committee. All Foundation funds must be used to further the Foundation's mission. The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization recognized by the IRS, so your gifts are tax deductible.

"The mission of the ASOPRS Foundation is to foster ASOPRS' educational, research and humanitarian projects, both nationally and internationally."

I invite you to become a Founder of the ASOPRS Foundation. The Foundation is asking Founders for an unrestricted $25,000 gift that can be donated as a lump sum or in four yearly installments. As of 7-8-2004, twenty one Past Presidents of ASOPRS have already given or pledged a total of $269,706. Thirty eight additional members of ASOPRS have generously contributed to the Foundation. Won't you add your name to the list of donors? All contributions help! Please be assured that the Foundation Board has endorsed specific programs for Foundation support, and all programs will be subject to approval by the ASOPRS Executive Committee. The board is interested in hearing about any additional worthwhile projects that you believe should be funded.

Should you be unable to commit to the Founders Circle at this time, other categories are:

-Presidents Circle $20,000 - $24,999
-Trustees Circle $15,000 - $19,999
-Benefactors $10,000 - $14,999
-Gold Patron $5,000-$9,999
-Silver Patron $2,500-$4,999
-Bronze Patron $1,000-$2,499

These donations can be made in a lump sum or in four yearly installments. With your permission, your contribution will be listed in the Foundation's communications with the general membership and also acknowledged during the general membership appeal at the Spring and Fall Meetings.

I think you will agree that while we have all committed a great deal of time and energy to ASOPRS, the organization has been very good to us. The Foundation presents a wonderful opportunity to give back not just to our colleagues as we have been doing for many years, but also to fellow physicians and patients worldwide. In establishing the Foundation, ASOPRS has again taken a leadership role among subspecialty organizations.

Donations to the Foundation are deductible as a charitable donation. Your gift will be acknowledged with a letter giving you the organization's Federal Tax ID number. There are a number of creative ways to make such a donation. If you need information in this regard, the Foundation office will have it available. ASOPRS also recommends that each donor discuss the ramifications of such a donation with their personal financial advisors.
