Brian S. Biesman, MD, FACS, Director of the Nashville Centre for Laser and Facial Surgery, has received the 2012 Ellet H. Drake Award from the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Inc. (ASLMS).  The award recognizes his significant contributions in the use of lasers for patient care, in laser reserach and in teaching other physicians best practices in laser medicine.  Dr. Biesman is the only physician in the Southeast region to have ever been honored by ASLMS and is one of only seven physicians in the world to have ever received two awards from ASLMS.  For more information, please see PRESS RELEASE.


Edward J. Wladis, MD - The National Rosacea Society (NRS) has awarded funding for three new studies as part of its research grants program to increase knowledge and understanding of the potential causes and other key aspects of rosacea.  Congratulations to Ted Wladis, recipient of a research grant to identify specific cytokines.  To learn more about Dr. Wladis' grant, please visit rosacea.org.


Richard L. Anderson, MD, FACS - Awarded the Multi-Specialty Foundation for Aesthetic Surgical Excellences highest honor.


Evan H. Black, MD - The American Academy of Ophthalmology recently announced nineteen Eye M.D.s were chosen via a competitive selection process to participate in the Leadership Development Program (LDP) XIII, Class of 2011. Congratulations to ASOPRS own, Evan H. Black, MD who was selected to participate.

Shannath L. Merbs, MD, PhD - 2010 Recipient of the AFER/Pfizer Ophthalmics/Carl Camras Translational Research Award



Brian S. Biesman, MD, FACS, director of the Nashville Centre for Laser and Facial Surgery and clinical assistant professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, will be awarded the highest honor from the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) at its upcoming annual conference.  The Leon Goldman Memorial Award is presented annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the broad field of laser science, technology and medicine.
