American Academy of Ophthalmology

Members of ASOPRS are also members of the parent organization of ophthalmology and its subspecialties, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). The AAO is the world’s largest association of eye physicians and surgeons. A global community of 32,000 medical doctors, the AAO protects sight and empowers lives by setting the standards for ophthalmic education and advocating for our patients and the public. We innovate to advance our profession and to ensure the delivery of the highest-quality eye care.

The AAO website is a rich resource of  practice management, advocacy and other valuable information. Much of the information is available without logging in, but there are several areas you will need to Log in to learn more.

IRIS® Registry
With the IRIS® Registry, ophthalmologists can compare their patient outcomes, professional performance and care processes against other ophthalmologists across the country. The IRIS® Registry will be able to measure the continuum of care from initial patient contact, through intervention and follow up.

Medicare Reporting (MIPS: Merit-Based Incentive Pay System)

The Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Education Center
This site represents an ongoing educational collaboration between ASOPRS and the Academy. The center has been formatted as a compendium of current reference outlines, to provide readily available information for the active practitioner or student of oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. It is not meant to be an exhaustive reference source but to stimulate further study in each subject. Members of ASOPRS have produced all sections of this center. Access the Ophthalmic News & Education Network®
