Become A Member

There are three ways to become a member of ASOPRS.

Category 1
This pathway is available to Board-certified members of the American Academy of Ophthalmology who have successfully completed an ASOPRS-approved fellowship.  Upon completion, the candidate has one year to apply and 3 years to successfully complete all steps in the application process.  The candidate is inducted into the Society as a Fellow with full voting privileges.

Category 2
This pathway is available to board-certified members of the American Academy of Ophthalmology who, in the opinion of the Society, have distinguished themselves in the field of oculofacial plastic surgery.  “Distinction” in the field may include active participation in teaching publishing, lecturing or advocacy. Category 2 candidates must be at least 5 years out of fellowship training. Upon successful completion of the application process the candidate is inducted into the Society as a Fellow with full voting privileges.

International Associate
This pathway is available to physicians living and practicing solely outside the United States.  Candidates must satisfy at least ONE of the following requirements:

(1) Have successfully completed an ASOPRS-accredited international fellowship (Pathway A)
(2) Be a member of a Reciprocal Society (also Pathway A), or
(3) have practiced at least 5 years with significant experience practicing and teaching in oculofacial plastic surgery (Pathway B).

International Associates are not eligible to vote, serve on committees or hold elected office in the Society.
