ASOPRS FellowshipsThe American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) approves and maintains post-graduate fellowship programs that train qualified physicians in the art and science of oculofacial plastic surgery (OPS). These highly competitive two-year full-time fellowship positions are affiliated with prestigious academic institutions in the US and Canada. Graduates of these programs are eligible for membership in ASOPRS following completion of oral and written examinations and submission of an approved thesis. Fellowship applicants must have completed an ACGME-approved ophthalmology residency and be eligible for medical licensure in the state or province of the fellowship. In addition, a small number of fellowships are designated for international ophthalmologists who intend to return to their home country to practice. ASOPRS Fellowships are divided into “even” and “odd” year groups. Programs train one fellow and operate on an “even” or “odd” year cycle. A few programs will train two fellows—one starting an odd year, one starting an even year—each with a separate official ASOPRS Program Director.
